Torres and Pennington get engaged
Tecia Torres: “I can’t wait to become Mrs. Pennington. I love you with my everything!! Always!”
The #5 ranked UFC women’s strawweight Tecia Torres and #4 ranked women’s bantamweight Raquel Pennington got engaged over the weekend. The pair recently bought a house together in Pennington’s home state of Colorado.
“Couldn’t be anymore complete. She said YES!!!” wrote Pennington on her social network. “And we had and amazing day with all our wonderful friends and family celebrating our new home.”
Torres too announced the engagement.
“She asked, I said YES!!!!” posted the Tiny Tornado. “Our love began unexpectedly. It started as a crush and grew into an amazing love. In this moment you made my dreams for us come true. Every day you show me a love so true and pure. I am blessed to wake up to you every morning and fall asleep in your arms at night. I can’t wait to become Mrs. Pennington. I love you with my everything!! Always!”
Steven Petrow of GayManners.com notes that like straight couples, gay couples have four options for surnames: retain their own names; hyphenate their last names; create a new last name altogether; or, take one spouse’s last name. Torres and Pennington have taken the fourth step and will become Raquel and Tecia Pennington, which will give them one more thing in common, on a list that is already wide and deep.
