Coming off an impressive knockout of Gian Villante at UFC on FOX Chicago, Tom Lawlor has signed a new four fight deal with the UFC. Lawlor broke the news exclusively to the Underground.
Lawlor was coming into this fight after a twenty-seven month lay off due to multiple injuries, including a torn ACL suffered in his last fight versus Michael Kuiper. Lawlor was an almost 2-1 to underdog in his most recent bout versus Villante, who at the time was ranked fifteenth in the division. This was Lawlor’s second UFC bout at light heavyweight, having recently moved back up a weight class after eight fights as a middleweight.
Lawlor, a member of the Ultimate Fighter Season 8, has been fighting in the UFC since 2008 and holds a 6-4 record inside the Octagon. Previously training in Rhode Island with Tim Burrill and Lauzon MMA, Lawlor now resides in Las Vegas and is a member of Syndicate MMA under head coach John Wood.
At the time, Lawlor is currently not scheduled for his next bout, but it will likely be this fall against a top fifteen ranked opponent, as he did put the entire division on notice in his post-fight speech.
