Tito: I can’t perceive how stupid Jon Jones is

UFC interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was removed from a unification fight with division champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 when he tested positive for two estrogen blockers. However, UFC Hall of Famer and current top Bellator MMA contender Tito Ortiz spoke recently with Chisanga Malata for England’s Daily Star and said the test failure was devastating to Jones’ legacy.

Jon ‘Bones’ Jones, he had an opportunity to be one of the greatest ever and he’ll never be able to do that again – ever,” said Ortiz. “How stupid is this man? I just can’t perceive it, I don’t even understand it.

“Through my long career of 19 years, I’ve never put the idea of using any type PEDS or anything like that. I’ve always been against it.

“When I fought against Forest Griffin, he had the exemption to use testosterone. And when I found out two days before the fight, I was like, ‘what the f*** are you guys doing here man?’

“And all the other guys are getting popped. They look for easy way outs. Easy way outs is not good.

“Three times and you strike out, this is as close to baseball as you’re going to get. You don’t do the things he did and get away with it.

“It makes me scratch my head because Jon Jones is actually a good guy. He just makes bad decisions I guess.

“And he’s going to pay for those decisions, that’s the way life is – you pay for the mistakes you make.”

The Nevada State Athletic Commission holds a disciplinary hearing on Jones’ doping violating on October 10.
