POKERSTARS.NET MILLION DOLLAR CHALLENGE, the runaway most-watched poker television series in U.S. history, whose three episodes rank 1-2-3 in most number of viewers, returns on Sunday, December 13 with the most emotionally charged show of the season. PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge airs immediately after NFL on FOX coverage.*
Audience members at the taping of the PokerStars.Net Million Dollar Challenge’s fourth show still aren’t sure which was more surprising: UFC Champion Tito Ortiz baring his soul to his opponent, or supermodel Joanna Krupa acting as if poker, not modeling, is her profession.
In a first round heads up match against a college wrestling coach, Ortiz opened up about the impact the sport has had on his childhood and his career.
Wrestling is what saved my life, says Ortiz, in the middle of playing a hand. I was a kid who was on the streets. My parents weren’t ready to grow up, you could say. They had a drug habit and wrestling is what saved me. I got into wrestling it kept me off the streets, kept me out of gangs. It changed my whole life completely.
But just as impressive as Ortiz’s honesty are the skills he showcases in his opening round match. In what may arguably be the best heads up televised poker game of the year, Ortiz and his opponent go on a ridiculous roller coaster ride of great plays, monster suck outs and incredible calls that promise to keep poker fans on the edge of their seats throughout the show.
