At UFC 183 this January former middleweight champion Anderson Silva will return to action against Nick Diaz in the night’s main event. Silva is still ranked as the number one middleweight and Diaz is a top welterweight, but could the winner be in line for a title shot? Dana White addressed the idea at today’s Q&A in Macao:

Anderson’s ranked No. 1 in the world right now at 185, White said, referring to the UFC’s official rankings, in which champions aren’t ranked. So obviously, Diaz, who is a 170-pounder, if he beats Anderson, it would be a pretty big statement for him.
