Tim Sylvia not cleared to fight
Tim Sylvia weighed in at 371 for his fight with Juliano Coutinho at Reality Fighting 53. Sylvia was not cleared to fight, and the bout was canceled.

Obviously UFC 182 is the talk of the town, but in the main event of Reality Fighting 53, former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia is fighting Juliano “Banana” Coutinho Saturday night.
Or was.
Sylvia weighed in at a startling 371 for the super heavyweight contest. That is not a typo.
Sylvia was not cleared to fight by the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation, Mike Mazzulli, director. The fight was unfortunately canceled.
Sylvia’s manager said that he was not certain why Sylvia was not cleared, but noted that the fighter had to meet a higher bar, due to his age.
“Not 100% sure,” wrote Cox on Facebook. “Because of his age he had to do a lot of meds at last minute… in all he needed a stress test, MRI, EKG, eye, blood and physical.”
The fighter confirmed that he was subject to extra testing.
“I am 2000 grand in the hole because of all the test I had to do.” he said.
Sylvia’s weight has fluctuated some over the past several years, but this is unprecedented:
UFC 61 2006 – 258
Affliction 2008 – 263
Moosin 2010 – 305
ONE FC 2012 – 265
Reality Fighting 2014 – 371lbs
The fight was to be a homecoming of sorts for the Maineiac, who had his first fight for the same promotion back when it was called the Rhode Island Vale Tudo in 1998, and is a huge disappointment to Sylvia’s many New England fans.
