Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim “The Maniac” Sylvia was knocked out by Former Ultimate Fighter 10 contestant Abe Wagner. Wagner needed just 32 seconds to drop Sylvia, seemingly too quick for the Maine native, who struggled from the beginning of the fight with his opponents hand’s speed. This loss brings an abrupt end to Sylvia’s four fight win streak that saw him finish Jason Riley, Mariusz Pudzianowski Paul Buenatello and Vince Lucero all via stoppage due to strikes.
“I thought I’d have a big speed advantage over (Tim Sylvia)” Wagner said. “I wanted to put the pressure on him, and I knew if I got inside his jab I’d be money.”
Despite recently claiming he would retire once he had won another title, the devastating KO loss could be the end of his career. Sylvia looked like a fish out of water when faced with the speed of Wagner. Sylvia weighed into this bout at an all time high of 311 lbs.
