Well what can I say first of all a Big thanks to the team that helped me prepare for this fight, Frontline Academy, My management UKMMA1 and of course the UFC not forgetting my opponent Yousef.
I have fought at many events throughout the world infront of some great crowds, but to have experienced what I did on the 14th April beats them all. I felt just a “little” nervous going into the fight as I wanted to mark my UFC debut with a win. As I was fighting a home fighter the crowd weren’t really behind me but that didnt really affect me. Many fighters talk about how everything hits home the second you step into any UFC arena, how true that is. I was used to being in a quiet changing room watching the 1st fight on TV with the likes of GSP and others beside me. Then as I walked into the arena is hit me how busy it was and pehaps a little hostile! lol As soon a the doors shut I thought to myself “stay focused, calm and dont make any stpupid mistakes!” next thing I actually remember was the end of round 1 and start of round 2.
I have to say the whole experience was amazing! a shout out to the Norwegian fans that made the trip it was so cool to see so many Norwegian flags.
For me what makes me real proud is that I am the 1st Norwegian 77kg to ever sign with the UFC and the 1st Norwegian to ever win in the UFC!!! that makes me proud.
Once again thanks to all especially Mr Joe Silva whom is a really nice guy.
