The main event of UFC Fight Night 89 in Halifax, Nova Scotia features a welterweight number one contender matchup between Rory MacDonald and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.
“Wonderboy” is here to stay.
Stephen Thompson put together a tactical, complete performance to beat perennial welterweight contender Rory MacDonald in the main event of UFC Fight Night 89 on Saturday night in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The first three rounds were very close, but “Wonderboy” actually got stronger in the fourth and fifth, bloodying MacDonald’s face and probably breaking his nose much in the same way Robbie Lawler did last year.
And Lawler, the UFC welterweight champion, was the guy Thompson called out afterward while talking to Jon Anik.
