Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com that light heavyweights Thiago Silva and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua have agreed to meet at UFC 149 in Calgary, Alberta.
UFC president Dana White today tweeted the Silva vs. Rua matchup but didn’t reveal a date for it. MMAjunkie.com later confirmed the targeted event.
UFC 149 takes place July 21 in Calgary. Silva vs. Rua likely will be part of the PPV lineup, which – as MMAjunkie.com first reported – will feature a featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Erik Koch.
