There was debate about whether or not the winner of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix would be the Strikeforce heavyweight champion. The determination was made that the the SF GP winner would not, and then Srtrikeforce Heavyweght champion Alistair Overeem was released from Strikeforce, and has signed with the UFC. But the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner DOES get a belt.
