The other shoe drops: Reebok rescinds Jon Jones sponsorship

It was almost a foregone conclusion that Jones would lose his sponsorships as well, and today it was revealed that Reebok chose to drop him as one of their sponsored athletes.

Jon Jones yesterday was stripped of his UFC light heavyweight title and suspended indefinitely by the UFC. It was almost a foregone conclusion that Jones would lose his sponsorships as well, and today it was revealed that Reebok chose to drop him as one of their sponsored athletes:

Jon Jones is OUT at Reebok — with reps for the sports apparel company telling us they’re 86’ing the UFC star over his recent arrest in New Mexico.

A rep for Reebok tells TMZ Sports … ‘In light of recent events, we have made the decision to terminate our contract with Jon Jones, effective immediately.’

Earlier this year the UFC announced an organization wide sponsorship from Reebok that would have all UFC athletes in Reebok apparel starting in July. In addition, Reebok made individual deals with some star athletes including Ronda Rousey, Jon Jones, and Paige VanZant.

Jones had been featured in recent commercials for the brand, but it was likely an easy decision for Reebok to make in light of recent developments.
