Much of the talk ahead of the ONE Fight Night 14 on Prime Video main event surrounds Stamp Fairtex (10-2), but the Thai megastar will have a mountain to climb when she steps into action at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on September 29.
Surging South Korean star Seo Hee Ham (26-8) is the task that awaits Stamp at the blockbuster event, with the pair squaring off for the ONE interim women’s atomweight MMA world title.
The debate is raging between fans about who will walk away victorious when ONE Championship returns to The Lion City, and here are three reasons why we think “Hamzzang” could ruin Stamp’s evening.
1. She has a supremely well-rounded skillset
Few pundits can pick any glaring weaknesses in Ham’s game.
The 36-year-old has shown an uncanny ability to shut down her opponent’s strengths wherever the fight goes.
In her most recent outing against Itsuki Hirata this past March, Ham methodically picked her foe apart on the feet and diligently shrugged off any threat on the ground.
She landed straight left hands at will on Hirata, frustrating the Japanese star, and scored a unanimous decision thanks to her dominance.
Against Stamp, “Hamzzang” will have to be on her game to nullify the three-sport superstar’s fearsome striking skills. But it would be hard to bet against her based on recent history.
2. She is in red-hot form
Ham is on a winning run that’s the envy of the whole women’s atomweight MMA division.
With nine victories on the bounce, three of which have come under the ONE banner, the Busan native is in the form of her life.
Filipino star Denice Zamboanga was unable to solve her riddle in two attempts, and Hirata also fell victim to Ham’s arsenal.
Stamp will be confident that she can figure out how to end her blistering streak, but that looks much easier said than done from where we’re sitting.
#3 There Is No Substitute For Experience
Ham will enjoy a significant advantage over Stamp when it comes to MMA experience.
While Stamp has 81 professional muay Thai and kickboxing fights to her name, she is only 12 fights into her MMA career.
In Ham, the Fairtex standout will be facing an opponent with 34 fights in the all-encompassing sport – 26 of which she has won.
The Team MAD representative has been a professional mixed martial artist for 16 years and has accumulated numerous titles while fighting in Australia, the United States, Japan, and South Korea.
When the going gets tough on September 29, fans can be sure that Ham will have the know-how to get the job done.
