The Bellator 2018 Grand Prix Heavyweight Tournament was solid on paper, but a little predictable
•‘Rampage’ Jackson vs. Chael Sonnen at Bellator 192 on January 20: ‘Page beats tiny Sonnen like Tito did.
•Roy Nelson vs. Matt Mitrione at Bellator 194 on February 16, 2018: Nelson experience pays off in close fight.
•Fedor Emelianenko vs. Frank Mir at Bellator 196 on April 28: Fedor too old, Mir wins
•Ryan Bader vs. Muhammed Lawal at Bellator 199 on May 12: Bader better rounded and wrestling good enough, wins.
However, you never know what’s going to happen in MMA, which is why you have the fight. After Fedor’s win on Saturday, the first half of the bracket is now extraordinarily intriguing. Sonnen won and now faces Fedor. Given the size difference, Fedor is the favorite. With a win there he is in the finals vs. the winner of Mitrione vs. (Bader vs. King Mo). That’s exciting.

Bellator MMA president Scott Coker says the date and place for Fedor vs. Sonnen isn’t set, but plans to host it on the East Coast.
