Bear man dies from choke-hold, after firing shot at stepson
A Bear man has died, after being put into a choke-hold by his stepson. He is identied as Jeffrey Mace. The case has been ruled a homicide, although no charges have been filed. The facts of the case are being reviewed by the detectives and the Delaware Attorney General’s Office.
The incident occurred early Monday morning morning (11/9) in the community of Garwood Estates. During the altercation, a male, 43, pointed a handgun at his stepson and fired a single round, but missed.The stepson was able to disarm and hold him in a wrestling style maneuver until his mother could put the gun in a safe place. After the weapon was put out of reach, the stepson let go of the hold and left his stepfather unconscious before leaving the home. Paramedics and police were called to the home. The 18-year-old was later taken into custody and is currently at police headquarters, where he was interviewed.
