Nebulae, interstellar clouds of dust and gas (primarily hydrogen), are abundant in the arms of spiral galaxies. Dense parts of these clouds undergo gravitational collapse and compress to form an ever faster rotating gas globule, which compresses over 10,000 to 1,000,000 years. Then it heats up for roughly 50 million years.

And if all goes right, a star is born.

Except for the names and a few other changes, the same process was in play at Invicta FC 7 – a star was born when Tecia Torres dominated the formidable Felice Herrig. Torres’ previous fight was a similar win over Rose Namajunas. Torres has never lost, amateur or pro.

Torres and the rest of the world’s best strawweights are all headed the UFC, where they will sort each other out during TUF 20. In a piece by MMAJunkie’s Steven Marrocco Torres explained she intends to come out as champion.

You never know what is going to happen in MMA, which is why you have the fight, but it could well come down to Torres and current Invicta FC strawweight champion Carla Esparza, which would suit both of them just fine.

Esparza and Herrig are best friends and Esparza challenged Torres immediately after Saturday’s fight.

I didn’t even know she was in the ring with me, said Torres. I was getting my props, and she was behind me, staring at me. I didn’t notice that until I’d gotten out of the ring. I was saying hello to fans, and she was calling me.

I walked up to her, and she said, ‘I don’t talk. I talk with knees and fists. You and me, let’s have a chat. Let’s go for this belt.’ I’m not one to back down, so I was like, all right, we’ll go for this belt. I guess she wants to fight me next.

I’m in no rush. But everybody keeps asking what’s 2014 for you? What’s up for ‘Tiny Tornado?’ I say 2014, there’s going to be a belt around my waist, whether that be the Invicta belt or the UFC belt, because I don’t know what’s going to happen. But there will be a belt around my waist.

Since the Rose fight, we’ve just been training really hard. I knew this would be my biggest challenge yet. I don’t even think she had a bad night. I think she fought at her ability. She worked her ass off in her fight camp, and so did I, but I think I got to another level where it was easy for me.

When I was done with the first round (against Herrig), I knew I was going to win. Well, I knew I was going to win the fight in the first couple of exchanges. As soon as she started feeling the power, she started tie me up and didn’t want to exchange with me as much. I thought my movement and speed was going to kill her, and that’s what happened.

What do you think UG? Who comes out of TUF 20 on top?
