Miesha Tate not only beat former Olympic wrestling silver medalist Sara McMann on Saturday, she did it with a broken eye orbit.

“I won!!! I am so excited to be heading to the Superbowl with a win!! Unfortunately I broke my orbital bone in 2 sports early on in the fight, I couldn’t see clearly out of my eye for rounds 2 & 3, I had to dig deep. Sara Mcmann is an amazing competitor, a tough fight for anyone!! Thank you to my team @xcmma & @enice10, my coaches @FollisMMA @BryanCaraway & @JimmyGifford!

Tate’s strength is her wrestling, but she was against an Olympic wrestler. And her excellent striking did not break McMann’s eye orbit. What Tate showed was heroic, Olympian heart, and it carried her through on of the greatest fights of a great, great career.
