Tate: I want to prove I can beat Rousey
Miesha Tate next defends the bantamweight title against Amanda Nunes at UFC 200, but she still has her eyes set on a third fight with Rousey to ‘prove she can beat her’.
Miesha Tate has two losses on her record to Ronda Rousey, but after Rousey lost her title to Holly Holm and was forced to take time off due to injury, Tate was given a shot at the title again. Tate capitalized on her shot and won the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title by defeating Holly Holm by fifth round submission.
Tate next defends the bantamweight title against Amanda Nunes at UFC 200, but she still has her eyes set on a third fight with Rousey to ‘prove she can beat her’:
“I feel like a third fight with her just needs to happen, for myself. Because I know that I can beat her,” Tate said. “And I want to prove that to myself, and I want to prove that to the world. It’s just something that’s on my bucket list. I think she’ll come back — I don’t know when. I hope that we can fight each other down the road because I want to prove to the world I can beat Ronda Rousey.”
With Dana White promising Rousey in immediate title shot upon her return, all Tate has to do is successfully defend the belt and she’ll eventually get that third shot against “Rowdy.”
