Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey legitimately hate each other and throughout UFC 168 fight week have had to keep their distance. That could end up being harder than they thought as they learned after checking into their rooms at the MGM that they would be neighbors:
While no one will probably ever find out whether or not someone did this on purpose to add to the already heavy UFC 168 promotion, UFC President Dana White admitted on FOX Sports Live that Rousey and Tate being hotel neighbors was a mistake.
“Anybody else on this card, it wouldn’t make a difference if their rooms were next to each other,” he said. “We had to screw up and put their rooms next to each other. It’s true. Miesha is like ‘are you serious? I’m walking outside the hotel, and these guys are mad dogging me already.’ So we switched rooms and put Miesha in another wing of the hotel.”
Crisis avoided, because both teams have as strong a dislike for each other along with the two female fighters. The UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion was on ESPN Sports Center yesterday and she weighed in on the MGM Grand hotel happenstance.
“We discovered last night that they actually put Miesha in the room right next door to me,” she said. “I didn’t see her, but my coach passed her boyfriend on the way out. Thankfully, Mr. Caraway was hiding behind a baby so my coach didn’t do anything. Later that night we heard vaccums going on at 2AM so I’m pretty sure they ran out and changed rooms,” she continued. “I was thinking about throwing furniture at the wall, but I actually had some stuff to do. So before I actually thought of terrorizing them next door, they moved.”
