Tammi Musumeci admits that she has fallen into the eating habits of her brother, ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci.

The American grappling sensation is getting ready to take on friend and strawweight submission grappling rival Amanda Alequin at “ONE Fight Night 12: Superlek vs. Khalilov” at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 14, and she says she’s taken a leaf out of her sibling’s book in preparation.

Mikey is well-known for his daily diet of pizza, pasta, and ice cream, which seems to work wonders for the Brazilian jiu-jitsu superstar.

While it would be unlikely for a sport dietician to recommend such an eating plan ahead of a match, Tammy confesses that she has been more than tempted to follow in her brother’s footsteps since he returned home to the U.S.

“I guess you could say, when I’m not cutting weight, because for 125, I don’t cut any weight, last week I ate a ton of ice cream,” she confessed.

“Now, since (Mikey) has been home the last few months in America, I’ve kind of been eating similar how to he eats, unfortunately. I mean, it’s good. I have to eat healthier because we have this really good pizza place that just opened up.”

Musumeci has big goals for her ONE Championship career. With one win from one battle in the promotion, the 28-year-old grappler has set her eyes on belts in two divisions.

She may have to wait for world titles to be introduced into both weight classes in the submission grappling ranks, but she remains focused on ruling the roost until then.

“Since I’m between weight classes, once they have the belts for the 115 and 125, I would like to get those,” Musumeci said.

“I just think that would be a cool thing. To be able to do both weight classes. So eventually, once it’s obviously established, that would be pretty cool.”
