According to SovSport.ru, security forces in Ingushetia detained a man who was going to carry out a suicide bombing at M-1 Challenge 49: Battle in the Mountains 3, in Dzheirakh, Ingushetia, on June 7.

Ingushetia is a federal subject of Russia (a republic), located in the North Caucasus region, bordering Russia, Chechnya, Georgia, and North Ossetia. The population of 450,000 is largely Muslim. A radical Muslim insurgency has spread from Chechnya across the entire North Caucasus region; militant attacks have become a frequent occurrence in Ingushetia.

According to source in the republic’s law enforcement agencies, the arrested man was suffering from mental illness. The terrorist groups in the region often use people with mental illness as suicide bombers.

The event will be headlined by Kenny Garner (USA) vs. Shamil Abdurahimov (Fighting Eagle).
