Strikeforce did want to go to Japan for the April 9th event, but I’m told now that it is “definitely not” happening in Japan and that it is almost certainly going to be held somewhere in the United States.
Strikeforce will make their Japanese debut April 10th, 2011 during the afternoon hours in order to be shown live in the United States.
The fight card will consist of a lightweight portion, and the heavyweight grand prix second round.
Strikeforce will be working with Real Entertainment and possibly M-1 to co-promote the planned event.
The second round of the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament is:
Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum
Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers
As M-1 is referred to as a possibnle co promoter, should that come to pass, presumably Fedor Emelianenko would appear on the card as well.
