Pro wrestling star Stone Cold Steve Austin appeared recently on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour. Austin journeyed there from his home on 316 Gimmick Street to provide information on his Broken Skull Challenge.

“I’m just the biggest MMA fan in the world,” said Austin. However, Austin is not necessarily the biggest Jon Jones fan in the world.

“I’d love to get your take on Jon Jones,” said Helwani. “Because you know he’s a lighting rod. Do you think he’s fake?”

Austin did not hold back.

“I mean, you hear a little stuff on the side, about his lifestyle. You know his lifestyle is a little bit different than what he preaches. But, as a fighter – premiere. And – God – in the light heavyweight division!

“Gustafsson really handed him his ass a couple of months ago and took him into the deepest waters that he’s ever been in. So that’s going to be a hell of a rematch; we’ll see how that shakes out, what the strategy is. But, anyway, he kind of gets on my nerves.”

Helwani interjected – “He does? Why? Why?”

“Yah,” replied Austin. “Just because I think he’s livin’ two lives, yes.”

Helwani pressed further.

“So you think he’s a hypocrite?” he asked.

“Yah, yah, to a degree, yes,” replied Austin.

Helwani then said Jones is often told he should go heel. The conversation turned to Floyd Mayweather Jr. (Stone Cold won’t buy FMJ as he is a little too abrasive). Helwani then turned the conversation back to Jones.

“So Jon Jones, he annoys you?” asked Helwani. ‘Do you want to see him get his ass kicked? Is that fair?”

Austin was smiling, not unkindly.

“Yeah yeah he does, but in a good way. I would love to see him get his ass kicked, because it’s going to take a HELL OF MAN to be able to do that.”

“I come from pro wrestling, I’m not a judge, but I thought (Gustafsson) did enough in the last fight to take that victory. Some people agree with that, some people say no Jon Jones hands down. None the less, it was a hell of a fight. And we knew Alexander was on his way up to be a superstar. That match made him a superstar.

“But, also, what that match proved to me about Jon Jones was, when he ant to deep waters, he had the heart of a champion. So, when I say some things about Jon Jones irritate me, I respect who and what he is inside that Octagon, make no mistake about that.”
