Stallone weighs in on MayGregor
Sylvester Stallone: “I always have the underdog. He’s a real life Rocky. But then again … I live in fantasy.”

The boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will in all likelihood be the biggest pay per view television event in history. It is believed that wagering will be larger than on the Super Bowl. As such, countless millions of sports fans are weighing in on the outcome, including Sylvester Stallone.
Stallone was living-on-the-streets poor in New York in the 1970s and wrote a script about a broke boxer who gets a shot at a champ modeled on The Greatest, Muhammad Ali. He was offered one million dollars for the script by a studio, which intended to cast Warren Beatty in the title role. Stallone had faith in himself held out to star himself, and is now worth around half a billion dollars.
When McGregor entered the UFC, he was on welfare, but years before, as a teenager, had predicted he would one day be the UFC lightweight champion with enough money to take care of his entire family. He’ll make well over 50 million dollars for MayGregor.
So it’s no surprise who Stallone is pulling for.
“You know who’s going to win,” said Stallone. “You know who’s going to win. Who do you think’s going to win?”
When the TMZ stringer replied in favor of Mayweather, he got a short retort.
“WAT??!?”
“I always have the underdog,” said Stallone. “He’s a real life Rocky. But then again … I live in fantasy.”
Another voice asked about Mayweather breaking Rocky Marciano’s record.
“[Mayweather] is gonna get hurt,” said Stallone with a wink. “Nah, I’m only kidding. But I don’t know. Let’s put it this way guys, it’s never been done before. Never been done before! So you never know.”
Stallone was asked if the fans will see him ringside, and again got a one-word reply.
“Never,” he said, slipping into a sedan.
MayGregor takes place on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
