When he’s not getting called out by top fighters, St. Pierre skills are debated by them. A few weeks ago it was former rival Matt Hughes calling into question St. Pierre’s wrestling skills. Hughes told MMA Fight Corner presented by FiveKnuckles.com that he believed St. Pierre was not a good pure wrestler but that he mixed takedowns with strikes well for MMA wrestling.

St. Pierre would be content to show Hughes personally how good his wrestling is.

“I think I’m good with mixing take downs with strikes, it’s true, but as far as (pure) wrestling, I started wrestling late. I was like 20-years old when I started wrestling. But I think a lot of people, they underestimate my wrestling. And as far as wrestling, I would not be afraid to challenge Matt Hughes to a friendly wrestling match.”
