One of the best developments of the last year for MMA fans has been the decision by the UFC and Spike TV to put a couple of preliminary fights on basic cable prior to the big pay-per-view shows. It’s good for fans to get more fights on TV, and the fights have delivered solid ratings for Spike.

Unfortunately, for UFC 110, there won’t be any preliminary fights on Spike.

I checked with Spike officials and was told that Spike is contracted for 10 prelims and has already aired two this year, so the network is already a little ahead of pace. There would also be some challenges for airing UFC 110 preliminaries because the card is in Australia.
