Sonnen looked in form in the first round, getting an early takedown and dominating on the ground. He worked from back control, mount and inside the guard, landing punches and elbows while never finding himself in any danger. It was total domination.
Unfortunately for Stann, it didn’t get any better in the second round as Sonnen quickly took him down and resumed his dominance. Despite a horrific stand up when both men were working, Sonnen scored another takedown and locked up an arm triangle and forced the submission.
