MMA is the world’s fastest growing sport, but what the US calls Soccer is the world’s most popular. And Italian soccer star “Super” Mario Balotelli says he’d love to be a UFC fighter.
For the record, Anderson Silva has gone on record as saying he would love to be a professional soccer player 🙂
Mario Balotelli has burst back into the limelight – claiming he’d like to be a UFC fighter if he hasn’t made the grade at football.
Balotelli, who won the Premier League with Manchester City last season and helped Italy to the final of Euro 2012 this summer, is more famous for his madcap antics and a temperament that has brought 20 yellow cards and two red cards in his two seasons at City.
And now he’s revealed that fiery streak could have been put to a very different use in mixed martial arts if the calcio hadn’t panned out.
“If I wasn’t a footballer, I probably would’ve wanted to be a UFC fighter,” he said at an event for City’s shirt manufacturers Umbro. “I really love it.”
