Shogun: My family wants me to retire, but…
Shogun: “I do this for 13 years. Every month, my wife and my mother meet and try to make me stop, but I tell them that’s what I love to do.”

Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is just 32 (he is coming off a loss to Dan Henderson, 44) but he has been fighting since 2002. In a recent interview with the Brazilian language television program “Agora é Tarde” he revealed that there is family pressure on him to retire.
“My mother asks me ‘you really have to fight?’” said Rua as transcribed by Guilherme Cruz for MMAFighting. “And I say that’s my job, mom.”
“I do this for 13 years. Every month, my wife and my mother meet and try to make me stop (fighting), but I tell them that’s what I love to do.”
“Shogun” fights Jimi Manuwa at a UFC Fight Night even on Nov. 8 in Uberlandia, Brazil. Ian McCall vs. John Lineker, and Ovince St. Preux vs. Rafael Cavalcante will also be on the card.
