Shogun hurt, Glover in. vs. Rashad at UFC on FOX 19
With Shogun injured, former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will fight Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC on Fox 19, on April 16, 2016, in Tampa Florida.
UFC on Fox: Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson, also known as UFC on Fox 19, on April 16, 2016 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida was co headlined by Rashad Evans vs. Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua. However, Rua suffered an injury and pulled out of the card.
Now the former UFC light heavyweight champion will fight Glover Teixeira. The Brazilian is on a two-fight win streak, with finishes over Ovince St. Preux and Patrick Cummins. Evans is coming off a decision loss to Ryan Bader; he beat Dan Henderson and Chael Sonnen? in his two fights previous to that.
Teixeira and Evans had been scheduled to fight just over a year ago, in the five round main event of UFC Fight Night 61 at Gigantinho Gymnasium in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. That fight was scrapped when Teixeira injured his knee.
