Sherdog’s top-10 regional promotions

Sherdog‘s Patrick Wyman, recently put together a list of his choice for the top regional promotions worldwide.

The UFC is obviously the world’s leading MMA promotion. World Series of Fighting and Bellator MMA have multiple top-10 fighters across different weight classes, and no distinct regional appeal, and thus are excluded. Cage Warriors FC has ceased operations, at least for the moment, and thus was not included. 

10. Legacy Fighting Championship, southwestern United States

9. King of the Cage, 400 events, staggering list of veterans went on to UFC

8. Tachi Palace Fights, California, focus on lighter weight classes

7. Resurrection Fighting Alliance, brainchild of Black House co-founder Ed Soares

6. ONE Championship, Southeast Asia

5. Jungle Fight, Brazil

4. Ring of Combat, Northeast

3. M-1 Global, Russia and beyond

2. KSW, Poland

1. Shooto, Japan

Honorable Mention: British Association of Mixed Martial Arts, Titan Fighting Championship, Deep, Watch Out Combat Show, Fight Nights, CES MMA, Xtreme Fighting Championships, Cage Fury Fighting Championships.

The list is going to generate more disagreement than agreement. KSW over M-1? Tachi Palace Fights over Titan FC? Shooto over everyone??!?
