Yes, I found out yesterday that Sherdog got denied their credentials for this weekend and I wasn’t planning on making a thread about it but since the Loretta thread seems to be going crazy and Sherdog is far more important than she is I thought I would make a thread to get to the real meaning of this.
The bottom line is is that it really doesn’t matter. Sherdog is still going to cover SF as hard as they would have even if they were credentialed. And you know what, they’re also going to get the most traffic out of any of the other MMA media outlets will even without credentials. Sure we might not get to see Sherwood’s red cap ringside and we might not get a few 2-minute long youtube clips but other than that it’ll be no different and I seriously doubt that Sherdog even cares that much to be honest.
Another thing to point out is that Zuffa has every right to credential whoever the hell they want to credential. It’s there company! At first I was pretty pissed about this whole thing but then I took a step back and thought about it. Zuffa isn’t doing anything that any other sports organization isn’t already doing themselves.
How do you think the press gets into sports teams locker rooms? Do you think they its a first come, first serve basis? Hell no! The sports team has to approve them, and you can bet you’re ass that they reject a lot of people.
So what if Sherdog doesn’t get credentialed. The bottom line is they are still the biggest online MMA media outlet in the game and will continue to be even without Zuffa approval. If you know what you’re doing then you’re going to succeed regardless, and Sherdog is a perfect example of that. Hell, Josh Gross has made a pretty good career for himself without being in big daddy Dana’s good graces.
Ed. note: MMAFighting is the biggest online MMA media outlet in the game. MMAFighting has the best PageRank in the sport, with a 7/10. A number of other sites in the space including sherdog.com, mixedmartialarts.com, and ufc,com enjoy a page rank of 6/10. Other popular MMA sites rank lower, like MMAWeekly.com (4/10), Strikeforce.com (5/10), and fightersonlymagazine.co.uk (4/10)
