I didn’t get a chance to watch it live, but got a chance to watch it today three times. I only needed to watch it once though, to tell you that Nick Diaz won rounds 1,2,3, and 5.
Even if I’m being extremely generous and giving Condit round 3 which was the closest of the rounds I gave Diaz, it’s still 3-2 Diaz.
I cannot believe anybody could call round 5 for Condit. When you have a guys back for damn near 1/2 the round after chasing him for the other 1/2, I can’t see how anybody could see that any differently.
I don’t fault Condit for his strategy. It worked pretty well and allowed him to go to a decision with Nick. It worked way better than if he would have tried to stand and trade with him. It also wasn’t nearly as bad as Kaleb Starnes performance like some have said.
I really hope the UFC has the two of them rematch with the winner fighting GSP in the fall, not because that’s the fight that the fans want to see, but because Diaz deserved to win that decision.
PS: If you want to fix the judging in MMA, it is very, very simple. Have only 1 judge for every fight, and have it be Cecil Peoples. However he scores the fight, just reverse the numbers, and give the win to whomever Cecil says lost.
