Ben Saunders entered the UFC in 2014, and won his first fight via Omoplata, a vanishingly rare submission at the elite level, that won him a $50,000 performance bonus. It also won him the World MMA Awards Submission of the Year.

Then he won two more, defeating Joe Riggs and Kenny Robertson. That is a three-fight win streak in the UFC, elite-level MMA.

In his last fight, he lost to Patrick Cote, and his contract ran out. Saunders was contemplating retirement, so did not pursue another one. However, after some reflection, Killa B determined to fight on.

He accepted a fight with fellow UFC vet, the controversial Jacob Volkman, at the unheralded Fight Night At The Island in Welch, Minn. Volkmann was 4-2 since leaving the UFC, and was on a two-fight win streak. Saunders hoped that a dominating performance would earn his way back into the world’s dominant MMA league.

“I always wanted to compete at the highest level,” Saunders told MMA Fighting before the fight with Volkmann Friday night. “Obviously, the UFC is that and I would love to fight for them. If I go out and I put on a great performance and they’re interested, then yeah. That’s where I’d prefer to predominantly like to be.”

Saunders BJJ coach Eddie Bravo posted that happened. It was an incredible example of what The Rubber Guard system and Killa B can do.

Dear UFC, please bring Killa B back to the Octagon at your earliest convenience.
