Royce: I missed this, it brought me back alive
Royce Gracie on Ken Shamrock: “I guess the guy’s been losing sleep for what – the last 20 years since I choked him out in less than a minute?”
UFC Hall of Famer Royce Gracie and UFC Hall of Famer Bas Rutten recently talked, ahead of the former’s fight with UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock at Bellator 149 on February 19 in Houston, Texas.
Gracie entered the UFC at 26, he in fact made it, and now is 49. And he told Rutten he could beat his younger self. And he did a little trash talking.
“I heard he’s been calling me out,” said Royce of Shamrock. “Even after he lost to Kimbo. He’s still calling me out at Bellator – ‘Hey put me in a cage, I want a rematch.’ I guess the guy’s been losing sleep for what – the last 20 years since I choked him out in less than a minute.”
“I don’t get upset for nothing. Actually, I miss this. It brought me back alive man.”
Royce also made a startlingly honest prediction.
“I personally don’t think he can have the endurance to last 15 minutes,” said Royce. “It might finish by him hitting me, one time. That’s it. That’s all he needs – one punch. But if he miss that one punch – I’m in.”
Then Royce laughed. And in the heheheh, you could hear his father.
