Rousey talks pay gap between herself and FMJ
Ronda Rousey: “If I got to a point where I had almost 50 fights, I would probably be making close to the same amount of money as Floyd does,”

A March interview by Bianna Golodryga for Yahoo with UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey recently came to international attention in which she discussed gender differences in pay in combat sports.
“You being at the height of your sport maybe make what?” asked Golodryga. “A million dollars at most per fight? Does that anger you and what can we do to change that?”
The question was asked in the context of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr making over $100,000,000 per fight
“If I got to a point where I had almost 50 fights, I would probably be making close to the same amount of money as Floyd does,” said Rousey, adding she was “very comfortable” with the size of her purse.
“But at this point, I have 11, so I can’t expect it to be exactly equal yet, I don’t think. I have to put more time in.”
Rousey also said she thought the UFC was the most “pro-women” sport around.
The interview touched on a variety of issues, including PEDs and Lance Armstrong.
When I found out it was all lies, I felt guilty,” she said. “I felt guilty I was inspired by a con.
It’s like an arms race between the athletes lacking morality and the science to catch them.”
She even touched on the lesser scandal of the NE Patriots Deflategate.
I don’t believe you should ever have advantage you didn’t earn,” she said. “Having balls that are easier to grab than the other team just isn’t fair.
She said balls, heh.
Lastly Rousey said she was not open to fighting a man in competition.
I just don’t think there should ever be a situation where there is an arena full of people gathered around cheering about a man hitting a woman, said Rousey. I really don’t see how that would be right. I really don’t see how that would help the sport at all. It would do nothing but hurt it.
So you’re safe Floyd.
