Rousey responds to inappropriate Correia suicide taunt
Ronda Rousey: “Bethe Correia suicide is no joke or selling point. My father will be with me the day I hand you the comeuppance you deserve.”

Trash talk has become a staple in the sport, and has proven to be an effective way of getting asses in seats (and eyeballs on webpages, like this one). However, it has some unwritten Unified Rules, and Bethe Correia recently broke one of them, in a recent interview with Brazil’s Combate.
First she promised to defeat UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey with just two punches, one to rip her mole off and the other to knock her out. That one is pretty good actually.
Later, repeatedly, Correia referenced Rousey and suicide, saying for example that Rousey should not kill herself after she loses, because Bethe will give her a rematch. That is not cool, particularly given that Rousey’s father committed suicide in the garage when Rousey, then just 8, was in the house. Correia crossed a line.
Rousey responded.
Ronda Rousey @RondaRousey
@bethecorreia suicide is no joke or selling point. My father will be with me the day I hand you the comeuppance you deserve.
Whether or not Correia knew about Rousey’s father’s suicide when she offered the tasteless remarks, she knows now. Correia would do herself and the sport a service by apologizing, sincerely and immediately. If she does not, there is a stain on her.
Rousey fights Correia at UFC 190 on August 1, 2015 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, live on pay per view.
