Rousey: How WMMA fighters more dangerous to plan for
“A lot of these women fighters are a lot more dangerous than the guys. They’re less structured because they’re newer in the sport. They throw things out of nowhere.”

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey recently broke down her fight finishes, most notably the extraordinary, improvised arm bar against Cat Zingano.
LA Times Lance Pugmire has the video. In it, Rousey describes a sort of decision tree, and says that women fighters can be more dangerous, as their reactions are more spontaneous.
“A lot of these girls, since they’re not very structured, they’ll do reactions that don’t make sense,” said Rousey, as transcribed by David St. Martin for MMA Fighting. “Sometimes it makes it a lot more difficult. A lot of these women fighters are a lot more dangerous than the guys. They’re less structured because they’re newer in the sport. They throw things out of nowhere.”
“It’s hard to describe the way I’m thinking. I have this action and so many reactions that can come from that. They pick one and I have so many answers. I have an answer to this one and there’s so many reactions to that answer. I know the reactions that make sense and I’m prepared for the ones that don’t.”
Ronda Rousey fights Holly Holm on Nov. 15 in the main event at UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia.
