Rousey, Cerrone nominated for ESPY award
Today ESPN released the full list of nominees for this year’s ESPY awards, including Ronda Rousey and Donald Cerrone, the only two mixed martial artists to be nominated.
Today ESPN released the full list of nominees for this year’s ESPY awards, including Ronda Rousey and Donald Cerrone, the only two mixed martial artists to be nominated:
Ronda Rousey was nominated for ‘Best Play’ which will be voted on in bracket style where she will square off against Gerald Green’s dunk in the first round. Rousey was also nominated for ‘Best Fighter’ and ‘Best Female Athlete’ for which she won last year.
This is the first year that Donald Cerrone has been nominated and he is also nominated for ‘Best Fighter’, which not only also includes Rousey, but boxers Terrence Crawford, Gennady Golovkin, and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
For Ronda Rousey the nominations comes based off her two title defenses, defeating Alexis Davis by TKO in :16 seconds at UFC 175 and defeating Cat Zingano by armbar submission in :14 seconds at UFC 184.
Donald Cerrone earned his nomination for an undefeated year, winning five fights and earning the number one contender spot.
