Today, in an e-mail to mixedmartialarts.com, the President of the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, Margaret Goodman, announced that Rory MacDonald has indeed signed up for their program leading up to his UFC 152 bout with BJ Penn:

This letter is to advise the Mixed Martial Arts LLC that Rory MacDonald is a participant in the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) program. He is subject to randomly-selected testing for performance enhancing drugs and methods through September 22, 2012.

We will keep the MMA LLC apprised of test results. Do not hesitate to contact me or VADA’s Chief Legal Counsel, Ryan Connolly, if you have questions or concerns.

This will be the first time UFC athletes have subjected themselves to a regimented program of anti-doping testing. It was BJ Penn who called for this action in an effort to help clean up the sport and MacDonald was happy to oblige.
