Ronda to produce and star in Rousey movie, based on best selling biography

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has starred as Luna in The Expendables 3, as Kara in Furious Seven, and as Ronda Rousey in Entourage. Now she is set to play herself in her own life story, and co-produce it.
In playing herself on film, Rousey joins an elite group that includes Chuck Norris (in Dodgeball), Jean-Claude Van Damme (in JCVD), and Howard Stern (in Private Parts).
The champ is on record as saying her goal is to be the #1 box office draw in the world. The top grossing actor in 2014 was Jennifer Lawrence. In 2013, it was The Rock.
Paramount has nabbed the rights to the 28-year-old’s autobiography My Fight/Your Fight, and Rousey is attached to star in the biopic.
Mark Bomback will write the script for the film, which would follow Rousey’s life and career.
Mary Parent will produce the film with Rousey, and Bomback will executive produce.
Rousey has built up her acting career with her roles in Expendables 3, Entourage and Furious 7. She’ll next star in Mile 22, the Peter Berg-directed film that will also star Mark Wahlberg. She’s repped by WME and Bloom Hergott.
In regards to her acting plan, Rousey told The Hollywood Reporter: “I never thought that being an action movie star was in the cards for me. My agent, [WME’s] Brad Slater, kept telling me, ‘You’re going to be the female Rock.’ Then I started to believe it could be a reality.”
Bomback has previously worked on Total Recall, The Wolverine, The Divergent Series: Insurgent, and the Planet of the Apes franchise.
