Former UFC bantamweight champion has broken her post-loss silence, and landed on the cover of ESPN magazine. After the fight she was hospitalized, stitches in her lip, with loose teeth, “really f—ing sad,” and understood she was not going to retire undefeated.

“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” she said, as transcribed by Tierney McAfree for People. But ‘Rowdy’ remains optimistic.

“Maybe I can’t do it all before my prime, before my body is done,” she says. “But f— it, maybe I can.” 

UFC president Dana White has said that Rousey will get an immediate rematch with new champion Holly Holm. However, if if will be six months before Rousey can eat an apple, that could push the rematch far into 2016, which makes a Miesha Tate vs. Holly Holm increasingly likely.
