Rockhold: Jones doesn’t have a chance vs. Velasquez
Luke Rockhold: “You can only run away so long. Jon Jones doesn’t have the style to keep him off him. Cain Vealsquez is just a beast, he’ll bull his way right through him.”
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones said he has two more fights before he moves up to heavyweight. When he does, he will likely find UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez waiting.
Luke Rockhold is an AKA teammate of Cain’s, and is helping Daniel Cormier prepare for his fight with Jones at UFC on Jan 3, by mimicking the style of “Bones.” Although Rockhold is biased, he understands Jones’ style well, and was adamant when asked what Jones’ chances were versus Velasquez.
“Not a chance,” said Rockhold as transcribed by Shaun Al-Shatti for MMAFighting.
“Cain, just the storm that he can put on you, you can’t stop it. I’ve trained with the guy, I’ve sparred with him so many times, and when he wants to get after you, he’s going to get after you. You can only run away so long. Jon Jones doesn’t have the style to keep him off him. Cain is just a beast, he’ll bull his way right through him.”
