Rockhold: I think I’m invincible
Luke Rockhold: “There’s going to be a lot of promotion for this fight. I think weidman is pretty confident in himself and what he brings to the table.”
Luke Rockhold learned last night that his next would be for the UFC middleweight title and he is excited about facing Weidman, another fights he thinks feels invincible:
In fact, Rockhold has had his eye on Weidman for years, long before either made it to the UFC. “I remember seeing this prospect site and he was number one and I was number two,” Rockhold remembered.
“This was before either of us was in the UFC. I said, ‘who the [expletive] is this guy?’ (laughs) So, I started checking him out, then.”
Rockhold maintained that he was “cool with Weidman,” but that hasn’t stopped either man from confidently saying that they felt they were the far superior fighter, in recent weeks.
Rockhold doesn’t know if any trash talk will have an impact on the champion, but he didn’t seem averse to finding out.
“You never know until you see how things play out,” he said.
“There’s going to be a lot of promotion for this fight. I think weidman is pretty confident in himself and what he brings to the table. We’ve both got Alpha Male complexes. He thinks that he’s invincible and I think I’m invincible. We’re going to see who is right and who is wrong.”
