UFC Champions

Heavyweight: Fabricio Werdum

Light heavyweight: Daniel Cormier

?Middleweight: Luke Rockhold

?Welterweight: Robbie Lawler

A glance at the UFC champions from 170-265 reveals that all came via the purchase of Strikeforce. Add to the list of notables arguably the biggest star in the league, Ronda Rousey. At the UFC 194 post-fight press conference, new middleweight champion Luke Rockhold had a few words for people that dismissed his Strikeforce title.

“I’ve been saying it for a long time,” said Rockhold, as transcribed by Dave Doyle for MMAFighting. “I believe I’m the best. I believe I’ve been the best in this sport for a long time. People want to beat down my Strikeforce accomplishments. I’ve taken my game to a newer level. I knew I’d come in and I’d outperform them and I’d get the job done.”

“Being a part of this card, UFC 194, was unreal. I couldn’t even imagine being on a bigger stage and putting on a better performance. For the fight to play out that way is unreal and I’m just at a loss for words. I’m just trying to take it all in.”

Scott Coker and Rich Chou are world-class at what they do. Accomplishing that in the face of the UFC juggernaut serves only to make it all the more remarkable.
