It isn’t decided who Luke Rockhold will first defend his title against, but according to the new champion, he believes it will be a rematch with Chris Weidman:

“All signs point to Weidman [for my first title defense],” Rockhold told Ariel Helwani on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour.

To Rockhold, Weidman’s insistence on a mulligan is questionable given the nature of their first encounter.

“I don’t think it’s a great move. I don’t know what he [Weidman] sees,” Rockhold said. “This is not god’s will. This is not a blessing in disguise. It’s the simple fact that I’m better than him. I’ll beat him again and I’m going to put an exclamation mark on it next time.

“I don’t know where his head’s at. He’s very religious and he seems to think everything happens for a reason. I guess it’s made him a better man, but, you know, he’s going to come into that cage one more time with me, and I’m going to have to beat him down again.”
