Ringside tickets to UFC 100 reselling for as much as $40,000

Ultimate Fighting Championship events generally cost a pretty penny to attend, and getting a spot at ringside isn’t just a matter of having the means to pay for it – you also have to buy your tickets within a few minutes of them going on sale.

But demand for tickets for July 11’s UFC 100 mega-event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, in which Canada’s Georges St Pierre will defend his world welterweight title against Brazilian Thiago Alves, is so heavy that ticket resellers are asking as much as $40,000 for a ringside seat.

Nosebleed seats will set you back a cool $500.

The event sold out to UFC members in minutes, leaving the general public without a chance to attend, unless they pay the exorbitant fees being charged by scalpers.

Hotels in Las Vegas are in such hot demand over the weekend of UFC 100 that several casinos are near full. Rates for the Saturday of the event at some casinos are sitting at about 300 percent of their regular price schedule, and airfares into Vegas are similarly booking out.

The event will also feature a heavyweight championship contest between former WWE pro wrestler Brock Lesnar and interim champ Frank Mir, as well as the Ultimate Fighter 9 coaches finale, between former U.S. Olympic wrestler Dan Henderson and British kickboxer Michael Bisping.
