The UFC announced that two-time league vet, middleweight Ricardo Abreu has been informed of potential USADA anti-doping violation following an out-of-competition test.
The UFC organization was notified that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Ricardo Abreu of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.
“USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.
Abreu, 32, was undefeated when he became a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3. He was eliminated Marcio AlexandreJr., but fought two more times, tapping Wagner Silva in May of 2014, and losing a split decision to Jake Collier in June of 2015. Abreu has not fought since.
A first time suspension ordinarily carries a two-year suspension, although Abreu will be given an opportunity to contest the test failure.
