Rest in Peace Kirk Florian (6/22/83-9/11/16)
Rest in Peace Kirk Florian, 6/22/83-9/11/16

Kirk Andrew Florian has passed away at age 33.
The first sign that something was amiss was late on Tuesday, September 13, when his older brother, retired UFC fighter and current color commentator, Kenny Florian, posted on his social network that his younger brother had been missing since September 10. There was a request that anyone with any information should contact the Dover, Massachusetts police department, which was evidently involved in the search. Dover was Kirk’s hometown.
The troubling news then turned tragic.
Always loving. Always loved. Always my little brother Kiki,” posted Kenny. “Kirk Andrew Florian 6/22/83-9/11/16. Thank you all for sharing his picture/information. Go tell your loved ones that you love them.
Kenny’s brother and former head trainer Keith posted a simple, heartbreaking message.
“I love you and I’ll always miss you,” he wrote.
Like his brother Kenny and Keith, Kirk was a mixed martial artist. He had a 3-0 amateur record. Although Keith did not choose to pursue a career in fighting, he was every bit the equal of his brothers on the mats. Kirk was part of the small group of students at Robert Maia’s, including Kenny, Keith, Patric Barbieri, and John Frankl, that ended up pioneering BJJ in Massachusetts in the mid to late 90s.
The UnderGround extends our deepest condolences to the Florian family, and wishes them all courage, strength, and support at this heartbreaking, harrowing time.
