Report: UFC seeks naming rights to new arena
Naming rights values of arenas that play host to NBA or NHL teams typically range from $2 million to $10 million per year, with most deals lasting 10 to 30 years.
UFC 200 on July 2, 2016 will be the first event at a $375 million, 20,000-seat arena currently under construction in Las Vegas. Now Las Vegas CBS affiliate KLAS is reporting that the UFC is seeking naming rights.
The arena is jointly owned by MGM Resorts International and AEG, the world’s largest owner of sports teams and sports events. AEG owns and/or operates a number of arenas that the UFC uses including the Staples Center in LA and The O2 in London.
The unnamed arena is reportedly seeking to bring in the first NHL team in Las Vegas. Naming rights values of arenas that play host to NBA or NHL teams typically range from $2 million to $10 million per year, with most deals lasting 10 to 30 years. An arena without a team might command $1 million per year less.
So 2016 may see the opening of the Ronda Rousey Center, right behind the New York, New York 🙂
